Testimonials

Testimonials are an important truth in the design process.

“HER RECEPTIVITY AND UNDERSTANDING OF THE ISSUES ENCOUNTERED AND INPUT FOR SOLUTIONS MADE IT A PRODUCTIVE AND PLEASANT EXPERIENCE FOR BOTH OF US.”

At Parkway Towers Condominium at 4545 Wornall Road in Kansas City, my company has provided design coordination services on 17 of the approximately 140 units in the condominium.

Emma Pound shadowed extensive renovation and design work for Unit 1000 in Parkway Towers. She worked alongside me through demolition of 3" cement walls, installation of new electrical service, new plumbing and finishes throughout the unit.  The interior design work included color pallet, floor covering, bath fixtures and tile designs.  A completely new kitchen was also completed.

The benefits of experiencing the real world design/renovation project assisted her in translating what she was learning into what she could expect in business.  Experiencing the creativity required to adapt design coordination services to a 60 year old cement building provided great insight and experience for her.

Changes in her perspective and practical application of her knowledge were apparent after working with her.  Her receptivity and understanding of the issues encountered and input for solutions made it a productive and pleasant experience for both of us.

“…HER DESIRE TO WORK IN THE INTERIOR DESIGN BUSINESS HAS SHOWN THROUGH IN HER WILLINGNESS AND DEDICATION TO EACH PROJECT SHE HAS ASSISTED.”

Emma is always interested in learning more about the details of the job, as I’ve discussed in the textile portion of our business with her many times. She assisted on many appointments outside the shop, and understands the practical side of business, as well. Her willingness to help with the small things and giving welcomed advice on large projects has made Emma a very capable designer.

I can say that her desire to work in the interior design business has shown through in her willingness and dedication to each project she has assisted.

“EMMA POUND STEPPED RIGHT UP TO THE PLATE TO HELP US IN THIS ENDEAVOR.”

In June of 2016, The McCune-Brooks Healthcare Foundation purchased one of the lovely Victorian homes in Carthage. Our intent was to use it as a designer showcase for local designers, artists and businesses. The ticket sales and publicity would go toward a mammogram program we had established for our community hospital that gave no charge mammograms to anyone who needed that screening in our area.

We were thrilled with the response from so many talented people in support of this cause. Emma Pound stepped right up to the plate to help us in this endeavor. Although she was young and getting ready to start her first year at KU, she had already interned for a designing group in Joplin. We asked her to take on the responsibility of the downstairs powder room and a room right off of the kitchen.

Her design for the bathroom included removing all of the wallpaper and painting the walls a very dark gray, Peppercorn. The trim was white and a chandelier was added for sparkle and a much needed update. The vintage, legged sink received a linen, custom skirt. A collection of mirrors above the sink finished off the spare, but elegant design.

The room off the kitchen was reimagined as a family gathering area, complete with built in shelving containing assorted baskets and containers of the supplies needed for crafts, artwork and games for children and parents. The walls were painted Colonnade Gray with white trim. The soft, warm color was complimented by window treatments in fabric of green, pink, aqua and gray. A large table in the center of the room provided a perfect work space. Emma had the top painted in black chalkboard paint, providing another element of fun and whimsy to the design for creative expression.
