Welcome back to another blog post! It’s been a while since I’ve done a blog. Between traveling, working with clients, and two weddings within two weeks, I’ve been staying busy! With all this wedding talk, I thought I’d share with you guys how I put together a bridal basket for a wedding I was in this past weekend. While I recommend sticking to the registry for at least one of your gifts, I think it’s important to get a little creative with at least one of the other gifts for the bride. It shows some extra thought went into the gift, and the couple gets to be surprised by something they don’t already know they’re getting. This bridal basket was super easy, and fun to put together. I’ve created a one-stop shopping list so you can whip one of these up yourselves for any upcoming weddings this season. Keep reading for the links to shop!
Read MoreWelcome back to another blog! Spring has officially sprung, and that means I want my house to smell like Spring as well. While I love burning candles, that’s not always the healthiest option due to the chemicals. (Don’t get me wrong though, I’ll never give up my candles.) However, one way to achieve delicious aromas in your home naturally is through simmer pots! What is a simmer pot you might ask? A simmer pot is a pot filled with water and seasonal ingredients, such as fruits, herbs, and spices, which is then simmered on the stove to create a fragrant and inviting aroma in the home. It can be used as a natural air freshener and can also add moisture to the air. I first became familiar with simmer pots around the winter time, but now enjoy doing them any time of year. I recently went to Trader Joe’s to get ingredients for my Citrus, Mint and Rose Spring Simmer Pot. I wound up being able to create a bouquet with the leftover Roses. Continue reading for instructions on how I created the perfect Spring Simmer Pot, as well as tips on how to make a Rose bouquet look fuller and last longer.
Read MoreWelcome back to another blog post! Today I’m throwing it back to a photo of my bar cart from nearly two years ago. I pretty much still have the same design today, minus the addition of seasonal decor. I had a blast designing this cart fresh out of grad school in my first “adult” apartment. I found these items from all over the place! From Tuesday Morning, to West Elm, to thrift stores, and a DIY project in between, I wanted to be sure this cart encapsulated a fun colorful personality. For today’s sake, I’ve created a one-stop shopping list for similar items, all on Amazon. As I curated this list, I realized some of these Amazon items are even cuter than the ones I have, ha-ha! But I guess being a designer means I’m constantly finding more things I ABSOLUTELY need to buy, right? Continue reading for these links and how to style these items.
Read MoreWith all the hoopla of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour (which no, sadly I didn’t get tickets to) I thought no better time than now to play around with some of her eras and their aesthetics. In today’s blog I’m styling some fun home decor pieces inspired by Taylor’s Lover Album. While all of her albums are stellar and choosing a favorite feels like choosing a favorite child to me, I thought Lover would be a perfect place to start! The dreamy pastel hues, and overall girly feeling of this album just make me happy. As always, each item will be linked down below. Swifties, enjoy!
Read MoreWhat comes to mind when you think of Easter decor? Probably bunnies, eggs, carrots, and candy. Maybe palm leaves, or lilies. Throughout history, the imagery and decor of Easter have transformed. Easter is a holiday to celebrate Christ’s resurrection. However, most well-known symbols and decorations for Easter are not biblical. The Easter bunny, one of the most well-known symbols of Easter, came to America through the stories of German immigrants. Another common Easter symbol, the decorative egg, is thought to date back to the 13th century. In more recent years, Easter candy became a symbol as well.
Because this is a design blog, I’ve curated some of my favorite decor items for each symbol. Keep reading to find out what I would buy, and where to get them, and how to style them!
