5/15 MOOD BOARD MONDAY- Charleston Inspired Entryway

Hello and welcome back to another Mood Board Monday! It’s been a while since I’ve posted. I recently took a trip to Charleston, South Carolina for a wedding and boy did I come back inspired by the architecture and design! The rich history and blend of European, African, and Caribbean designs create an atmosphere truly unlike any other city. One of my favorite traits of the Charleston home’s was the abundance of flower boxes in every window, adding color and texture wherever you looked. Of course the interiors of the shops, restaurants, and hotels were equally as stunning. The sophisticated and timeless designs do a great job of combining classics, with some modern flair. When I think of Charleston interior design, I picture patterns, layers, lots of colors, and eclectic pieces. Today I’m tackling a Charleston inspired entryway. Keep reading for links to all pieces, as well as how I’d style them.

Charleston decor is full of wallpaper! To start off this entryway I selected a classic green grasscloth wallpaper. Grasscloth is a common design element in the south. This wallpaper is available to the trade only, and can be ordered through me. Next up I wanted to throw in some botanical prints. These blue and white hydrangea prints were calling my name. I’d frame them in gold bamboo frames. I actually have these exact frames all throughout my house in various sizes, and can’t get enough of them!

Every entryway needs a mirror, in my opinion! I love this gold mirror from Amazon. Despite being brand new, it gives a classic vintage feel. For some accessories I chose this textured terracotta white planter and would add in these great faux hydrangeas.

To add some lighting details, I found this blue and white chinoiserie table lamp with bird details. The gold on this lamp also pulls out the gold mirror and picture frames. I also wanted to add some coffee table books because I have an addiction to coffee table books! You could also place a dish of some sort on top of these books for your car keys. I purchased the Allure of Charleston, as well as Island Whimsy, coffee table books in Charleston and had them shipped back.

I wanted an entry table that would really make a statement. I’m personally getting sick of seeing the same style of tables online when searching for rattan entryway tables. What I liked about this table was the sleek design and lack of drawers. Rattan of course always gives a coastal element to any space. I then would utilize the space below and throw in these Hunter Boots. This is a trick I do in my entryway as well. This is such an easy way to give your home a lived-in feel, rather than looking straight out of a magazine (and not in a good way). After all, this is an entryway, so realistically you’re going to have shoes lined up. You can use any rain boots you have on hand. I prefer colorful ones, because they add some fun personality to the space. I’d then recommend doing this woven basket which can also store shoes, umbrellas, dog leashes, you name it!

Lastly, to elevate this entryway a bit and still give a refined Charleston feel, I added some dining chairs flanking either side of the console. My parents have these exact chairs in their dining room, and they’re so comfy while still looking antique-like. I’d then throw on these colorful pillows to brighten up the space as well as soften up the chairs.
